Our Church Staff

Wayne Davis, Pastor

Wayne Davis became Pastor of EBC in February 2023. He and his wife Adria have been married for nearly twenty years, and they have three children: Abigail, Levi, and Isaiah. They are new to the area and look forward to getting to know the people and the region.

Wayne completed his theological training at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served churches in New Orleans, LA, as well as Tuscaloosa and Butler Counties, Alabama.

Wayne has a hard time picking a favorite verse, because different ones speak to him at different times. The following verse has brought him great comfort:

“For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor, a lifetime.

Weeping may stay overnight, but there is joy in the morning.”

Psalm 30:5 (CSB)

Becky Tilley, Music Director

Becky Tilley has been the music director at Emmanuel since 2005. She is bi-vocational and currently is employed by Anthem. She has been married to Adam Tilley for 17 years and they have two sons, Brodie and Aiden.

Becky loves music and the Lord has blessed her with a beautiful singing voice and great talent in directing our Adult Choir. She graduated from Smiths Station High School then obtained an Associate of Science in Music Degree from Chattahoochee Valley Community College.

Her favorite scripture is I John 4:18, “There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

Heath Day, Youth Minister

Heath Day started in June of 2018 as youth minister at Emmanuel. He is bi-vocational meaning his “day job” is a Commercial Evaluator for Arrow Exterminators. Heath was born and raised in Phenix City; graduated from Smiths Station High School and Chattahoochee Valley Community College (with various certificates).

Heath married his best friend, Jean and they have two children, Andrew and Sara and a 11 year old Weimaraner named Stormy. Heath says, “don’t tell the dog she is a dog because she thinks she’s our baby girl”.

Heath and Jean have a passion for youth. “We want every youth, young adult, to know that they are loved, that they have a safe place to land, and that God has a special plan for them. Teaching them about Christ, watching Him draw them to Him, and learning how to serve others and Christ together is our goal. It is an honor to serve the youth of Emmanuel Baptist Church!”

Heath’s favorite scriptures are “Though your beginning was insignificant, yet your end will increase greatly”. Job 8:7; “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not calamity to give you a future and a hope”. Jeremiah 29:11; “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe”. Proverbs 18:10

Angela Smith has served Emmanuel as part time secretary since January 2017. She also serves as part time secretary at New Beginning Baptist Church, Phenix City. She graduated from Opelika High School then obtained an Associate of Science Degree in Music from Southern Union State Community College and a Bachelor of Arts in Religion Degree from Samford University in Birmingham.

She has been married to Victor Smith for 31 years. Angela and Victor have 5 children, Melissa Moore (husband, Dale Moore), Michael (wife Chance), Timothy (wife Crystal), Victoria and Anthony. They have 2 grandchildren Tripp Howard Smith and Arabella Grace Smith.

Her favorite scripture comes from The Message Translation, “Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.” James 4:10
